African Elephants, Loxodonta africana. Trunk twining and touching are part of bonding behaviour in cow-calf herds. Here the adult female on left is greeted by an older daughter (top right) and her current calf. Kenya. Note: Even at 9 years of age a calf still spends about half its time within 15 to 20 feet of its mother.
