Caption

Secondary heart cancer, gross specimen. Heart with metastatic malignant (cancerous) carcinomas (invasive tumors). A metastatic tumor is a secondary cancer that has spread (metastasized) from the site of the original cancer. Secondary heart tumors, although more common than primary tumors, are uncommon. Small single tumors can sometimes be removed surgically, however, once a cancer has spread to the heart the prognosis is poor.
