Laer eye surgery. Patient undergoing laser eye surgery to correct myopia (nearsightedness). A flap is cut in the cornea of the eye with a femtosecond laser. An excimer laser is then used to remove some tissue from the stoma, the middle layer of the cornea. The flap is then replaced and will heal without stitches in a couple of weeks. This procedure can also be used to treat farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. Photographed at Rouen hospital, France.
