Severe erosion of the masonry of the dilapidated Palazzo Bongiovanni in Syracuse, considered one of the finest Baroque buildings in Sicily. This palazzo was built in 1772, and the characteristic feature of this late Baroque style was curving balconies with elaborately designed wrought-iron railings, supported by masks and putti.
