Oxygen therapy. A patient about to be loaded into a small chamber used in hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). Here it is being used in the post-operative care of a patient with an intracranial abcess. In this kind of 'hard' chamber the pressure may be raised to up to 6 bar (600 kilopascal). The atmosphere is 21% oxygen, although patients in the chamber may be fed pure oxygen through a mask. Photographed at the Skilfosovksy Emergency Care Research Institute in Moscow, Russia in 2010.
