Caption

Chest muscles. The large muscle spanning much of the chest is the pectoralis major. It attaches at the sternum (breastbone), clavicle (collar bone) and humerus (upper arm bone). It acts to pull the arm towards the body and rotate the arm forwards and sideways. Beneath the pectoralis major is the smaller pectoralis minor (seen at right). It attaches to the ribs and scapula (shoulder blade) and acts to move the shoulder forwards and downwards. Also seen is the brachial plexus, the network of nerves (yellow) that originate in the neck, pass through the shoulder and innervate the arm.
