Caption

Meteor track over Clatteringshaws Loch, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The Milky Way, our galaxy seen from the inside, is the band of stars, nebulae and dust lanes running vertically across the sky behind the meteor track. The meteor track is caused by a piece of space rock burning up in the Earth's atmosphere. Photographed on 21 September 2012.
