Saliva chemicals. Molecular structure of a group of saliva molecules. These include the antibody immunoglobulin A (blue, double-y shape, see C014/5652). Saliva is secreted by the salivary glands to aid digestion. Mostly water, it also contains electrolytes, mucus, glycoproteins, enzymes, and antibacterial chemicals. The large ribbon-like structures show the presence of proteins.
