Spectrometry lab. Technicians working with the first 1Ghz spectrometer. A spectrometer is an instrument used to measure properties of light over a specific portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. They are typically used in spectroscopic analysis to identify materials. This particular machine is the first in the world to operate at frequencies of up to 1Ghz (gigahertz).
