Methane gas recovery equipment. Worker with equipment used to collect methane gas released by decomposing household waste at a landfill site. This site collects the methane gas released from household waste as it decomposes and burns it to produce electricity. The carbon dioxide released from the combustion of the waste is used to help grow microalgae, which are then used for biofuel production. The carbon dioxide is pumped into ponds to promote photosynthesis and therefore growth of the algae. Photographed in Le Vigeant, France.
