Marine traffic control. A 60-metre high radar tower near the entrance to a port installation. This radar is used to monitor sea traffic around the port and along the canal that links it to the open sea. Controllers prevent any possible collisions at night or in poor visibility in a similar manner to air traffic controllers. Without such a system a busy port area can be brought to a halt by fog. Photographed at Baltiysk, Russia.
