Abnormal fruit growth around Chernobyl. Japanese quince with abundant fruiting and increased fruit size growing in the Chernobyl meltdown area two years after the disaster. A normal-size fruit, left, is given for comparison. On 26th April 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded causing the worst nuclear power plant diaster in history.
