Pulmonary sarcoidosis. Computed tomography (CT) scan of an axial section through the chest of a patient with inflammation of the lung (pneumonitis) caused by sarcoidosis (Besnier-Boeck disease). Sarcoidosis is a disease in which abnormal collections of chronic inflammatory cells (granulomas) form as nodules in multiple organs. Here, a single large nodule (white, can be seen surrounded by smaller micronodules.
