Cervical cancer. Endoscopic view of the cervix of a woman with invasive cervical cancer caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Cervical cancer is a malignant (cancerous) neoplasm (abnormal mass of tissue) arising from cells originating in the cervix. Treatment usually consists of surgery (including local excision) in early stages, and chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy in more advanced stages of the disease.
