Brain injury. Coronal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scan showing intracranial abnormalities in a 23-year-old male motorcycle crash victim. Multiple haematomas (localised collections of blood, white) are seen, along with cerebral contusion (bruising, dark grey) in the right frontal and temporal regions. Haemorrhages (both macro and micro) show up predominantly as black. These brain injuries, along with spinal fractures, proved fatal.
