Fossil eggs found at the Laetoli site in northern Tanzania. The rocks at this site are thought to be around 3.7 million years old. As well as eggs, the rocks contain footprints made by the human ancestor Australopithecus afarensis that show that early human ancestors walked upright at this time. Much of the work at this site was done by Mary Leakey (1913-1996).
