Historical ophthalmology refractor. This device is used for clinical measurement and correction of refractive errors of the eye. The patient looks through the eyepieces (upper centre) and a series of lenses are dialled into place as the they read a wall chart. The ability to read the chart guides the ophthalmologist in choosing the appropriate lenses to correct the patient's vision.
