Gentoo penguins (Pygoscelis papua) on a beach. This penguin, which grows to lengths of 70 centimetres, lives in large colonies on Antarctic islands. It feeds on plankton, fish and cephalopods (such as squid), and has an elongated beak that allows it to take larger prey than any other penguin. Photographed on the Falkland Islands.
