Felix Baumgartner on a screen in the Red Bull Stratos mission's Flight Control Centre during his record-breaking jump on 14th October 2012. Baumgartner jumped from an altitude of 39,045 meters and was in freefall for four minutes and twenty seconds. The jump broke the record for the highest ever freefall and Baumgartner became the first ever skydiver to break the sound barrier, reaching a maximum velocity of 1342.8 kilometres an hour (mach 1.24).
