Felix Baumgartner's balloon and capsule being put into place for launch on 14th October 2012. The capsule climbed to an altitude of 39,045 meters, before Baumgartner jumped out. He was in freefall for four minutes and twenty seconds. The jump broke the record for the highest ever freefall and Baumgartner became the first ever skydiver to break the sound barrier, reaching a maximum velocity of 1342.8 kilometres an hour (mach 1.24).
