Sucrose molecule. Molecular model of the disaccharide sugar sucrose (C12H22O11). Sucrose consists of two linked monosaccharide molecules (glucose, left, and fructose). Atoms of carbon are black, hydrogen are white and oxygen are red. Sucrose is produced naturally in plants, and is harvested for human consumption from sugar cane and sugar beet.
