Caption

An Arctic ground squirrel (Urocitellus parryii). This species grows to around 40cm and inhabits northern Canada, Alaska and parts of Siberia. It feeds on grasses, leaves and berries. It is preyed on by all Arctic predators, including foxes, bears and eagles. It is one of the few Arctic animals that hibernates. Photographed in Kamchatka, Russia.
