Fallopian tube. Artwork of a fallopian tube that has been sectioned to show its internal structure. Part of the female reproductive system, this is the structure along which an egg (ovum, female sex cell) travels after it is released from the adjacent ovary (not seen). It travels to the uterus (partially seen at far left) where, if fertilised, it can embed and develop into a foetus during pregnancy.
