Female reproductive system. Artwork of the uterus (centre) and the two ovaries (orange) and fallopian tubes either side. These are the central organs of the female reproductive system. Eggs (female sex cells) produced by the ovaries travel along the adjacent fallopian tube to the uterus, where if fertilised it can embed and develop into a foetus during pregnancy. The uterus and the birth canal (vagina) have been sectioned here to show their internal structure.
