Specific structures include the rhinencephalon, the hippocampus, the prefrontal cortex (shaded area at far right), the substantia nigra, and the nucleus accumbens. At lower left is the cerebellum. At lower centre is the brainstem. Across top is the cerebrum. Many of the structures highlighted in colour at centre are part of the limbic system, and play roles in emotional behaviour, memory, and olfaction.
