Scapula. Artwork of a side view of the right-hand scapula (shoulder blade), one of the bones of the back and shoulder. This bone articulates with the head of the humerus (not shown), forming a ball-and-socket joint. The surface of the glenoid fossa is fully seen, with cartilage (blue) present. The bony protrusions (processes) are the acromion (upper left) and coracoid process (upper right). Below these structures is the lateral border of the scapula, also called the axillary border or margin. This border, the thinnest of three on the scapula, is angled downwards, as can be seen in the views in C010/7129 (frontal) and C010/7131 (rear).
