Scapula. Artwork of a rear view of the right-hand scapula (shoulder blade), one of the bones of the back and shoulder. This bone articulates with the head of the humerus (not shown) at right, forming a ball-and-socket joint. The surface of the glenoid fossa is partially seen, with cartilage (blue) present. The bony protrusions (processes) at upper right are the acromion (far right) and coracoid process (partially obscured). The main parts of this dorsal surface are the supraspinous fossa (top) and the infraspinous fossa (bottom), separated by the bony ridge of the scapular spine. See also images C010/7129 and C010/7130.
