Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. Swimmers bathing against a mountain backdrop in the waters of the man-made Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, on the Reykjanes Peninsula, south-western Iceland. The colour of this water is a result of the blue-green algae thriving in its saline and silica rich waters. The water, reported to be beneficial to those suffering from psoriasis, is supplied from the Svartsengi geothermal power station.
