Comet Halley. False-colour image of Halley's comet taken by the Soviet Vega-2 spacecraft on 9 March 1986. Vega 2 passed within 8,030 km of the comet's nucleus, three days after the Vega-1 spacecraft. Between them the two Vega spacecraft returned over 1500 images of the comet.
