Caption

White rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) and calf grazing at a private game reserve, South Africa. The person in the foreground is a Protrack ranger. Protrack is a private anti-poaching company. Armed rangers are hired to protect wildlife parks and farms against poachers. Rhinos are very short sighted and rely on hearing and sense of smell to detect predators. Rhinoceros horns are illegally poached and sold for use as ornaments and traditional medicines.
