Canadian pondweed leaf. Light micrograph of a section through the leaf of a Canadian pondweed (Elodea canadensis) plant, showing the cells (squares). The tiny green particles within the cells are chloroplasts. These contain the green pigment chlorophyll and are the sites of cell photosynthesis. Magnification: x100, when printed 10 centimetres wide.
