Nerve growth factor bound to receptor, molecular model. Human nerve growth factor bound to the TrkA receptor. NGF is a neurotrophin that acts on the development and function of nerves. TrkA is also known as neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor type 1. The interaction of both these molecules plays a key role in differentiation of nerve cells. Here, the extracellular segment of TrkA is shown (green and purple), binding either side of the neurotrophin (NGF, orange and pink).
