Stroke. Computed tomography (CT) scans of sections through the brain of a patient taken 24 hours, 10 days, 25 days, and 90 days after a haemorrhagic stroke, showing damage that left the patient with neurological problems. A stroke, or cerebrovascular accident (CVA), is the rapid loss of brain function due to a disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. Here, arterial hypertension (high blood pressure) caused a blood vessel to burst, leaking blood (haemorrhaging).
