Soyuz spacecraft leaving Earth. Artwork of a Soyuz TMA-M spacecraft (foreground) connected to an extended stay module (both with a crew capacity of three). At upper right, beyond the extended stay module, is a Russian space tug ('Parom' or 'Ferry') and an upper-stage booster rocket which is boosting the spacecraft out of Earth orbit on a trajectory to a destination such as the Moon. The Russian Soyuz TMA-M (crew of three) is a modified version of the Soyuz TMA spacecraft. It has been in use since 2010. Plans have been made for missions to the Moon and Mars, but they are not expected to take place until after 2020.
