Cervical polyp. Light micrograph of a section through a polyp (lower centre) on a cervix (neck of the womb). Polyps are benign (non-cancerous) growths which may occur on any mucous membrane. Cervical polyps are surgically removed if they grow and cause symptoms or if it is suspected that they are developing into malignant formations.
