Atherosclerosis. Coloured 3D computed tomography (CT) angiogram of the heart of a 69 year old patient that has had an aortic heart valve replacement. The aortic arch and descending aorta are narrowed due to atherosclerosis, the build up of fatty plaques (atheroma). The aorta is the body's main artery. It carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body.
