Chunxiao Hu, an electronics engineer at the University of Southampton, who helped develop a device which can hold a 1mm-long c. elegans nematode securely, making it possible to record the brain activity of these tiny creatures. It is hoped to use the information to develop a high-throughput screening technology for neuroactive and neurotoxic compounds.
