Kidney cancer. Light micrograph of a section through a kidney affected by chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (RCC). RCC originates in the lining of the proximal convoluted tubule, the very small tubes in the kidney that transport GF (glomerular filtrate) from the glomerulus to the descending limb of the nephron. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Magnification: x560, when printed 10 centimetres wide.
