Inferior alveolar nerve block. Artwork of an anaesthetist pointing out the location of the inferior alveolar nerve (yellow) prior to injecting a local anaesthetic, a procedure known as a nerve block. Numbing this nerve allows minor surgery on all the teeth on that side of the lower jaw, as well as numbing the chin and lip. The injection can be applied several different ways. The standard method is to apply the injection in the corner of the jaw where the upper and lower jaw meet.
