Nuclear accident. A man using a well in Muslymovo, a village polluted after a radioactive accident. In 1957 there was an explosion at a nuclear fuel reprocessing plant at Mayak, Russia. In the following 11 hours, over 20 million Curies of radiation was released into a plume that covered up to 20,000 square kilometres. This was the third largest nuclear accident in history (after Chernobyl and Fukushima). Photographed in 2010.
