Sections of DNA, known as genes, are converted to complimentary RNA in a process known as transcription. The RNA sequence encodes the sequence of amino acids that make up a protein. The process of building the amino acid chain from the RNA template is known as translation. Once the amino acid chain is complete, it folds to form the finished protein.
