Caption

Surgeon holding an arthroscope which has been inserted into a patient's knee for inspection of the joint during a knee arthroscopy. The arthroscope (endoscope used inside joints) is connected to a video monitor enabling the surgeon to examine internal structures for diagnosis and repair of joint problems. This is a form of keyhole surgery; it allows small incisions to be used. It is less invasive than traditional open surgery and allows faster recovery times.
