Caption

Surgeon administering an injection into a patient's shoulder in preparation for arthroscopy. Shoulder arthroscopy involves the insertion of an arthroscope (endoscope used inside joints) through a small incision. The arthroscope is attached to a video monitor enabling the surgeon to inspect the joint. Surgical instruments are inserted through small incisions to correct damage or injury to the shoulder joint itself, to treat damaged ligaments and tendons, or to remove cartilage.
