Vorticella sp. ciliate protozoan, light microscopy. This protozoan feeds by using hair-like cilia around the cap of its bell to waft food particles towards its central mouth. Vorticella are widely distributed in freshwater environments worldwide, and feed mainly on aquatic bacteria. Filmed with darkfield illumination.
