Geothermal mineral deposits. Sulphur-rich mineral deposits that have formed around the hot springs of Dallol in the Danakil depression of northern Ethiopia. These stalagmite-like features are about one metre tall. The minerals form as hot water and gases are released from underground volcanic areas.
