June 5, 2012, much of the world was treated to a rare transit of Venus. This view was taken from Phoenix, Arizona at 3:23 PM when the dark silhouette of our sister planet had just become fully visible within the sun's disk. Venus was large enough to dwarf all of the sunspots and be seen with the naked eye by people with keen vision.
