Liquorice root (glycyrrhizin glabra) can be used as an herbal remedy for many things. The herb's key therapeutic compound is glycyrrhizin. It is an alternative to St. John's Wort as an anti-depressant and also used for many ailments. Some of them include: asthma, athlete's foot, baldness, bursitis, canker sores, chronic fatigue, colds and flu, coughs, dandruff, emphysema, gingivitis and tooth decay, gout, heartburn, HIV, viral infections, fungal infections, ulcers, liver problems, Lyme disease, menopause, psoriasis, shingles, sore throat, tendinitis, tuberculosis, yeast infections, prostate enlargement and arthritis.
