Great white shark (Carcarodon carcharias) inspects diver in cage. The great white shark is one of the oceans' top predators, being one of the largest of the flesh-eating sharks. They are voracious predators, eating large fish, turtles, dolphins, sea lions, seals and, given the option, humans. They are known to follow ships into shallow coastal waters, where humans may be swimming. Attacks on small boats have also been reported.
