Indian food preparation. Historical artwork of a dish called 'wada' being prepared for Ghiyath al-Din, the Sultan of Mandu in what is now India. The Sultan, seated on a stool at upper left, is being offered the food which has been prepared by the cook at lower left. This opaque watercolour is in the Sultanate style. It is from the 'Ni'matnama-i Nasir al-Din Shah', a Persian manuscript on Indian cookery that dates from the period 1495 to 1505.
