A molecular model of chitin, a polymer derived from glucose that makes up the composition of exoskeletons of insects and crustaceans. Chitin has also been utilized in agriculture and the medical fields due to its strength and flexibility as a biodegradable material. Atoms are coloured dark grey (carbon), light grey (hydrogen), red (oxygen), blue (nitrogen) and pink (other bound organic molecules).
